| Aug., 2008 The Steamworks Concours D' elegance was a spectacular event once again. Laurel and Colin G have stepped up to help Eli G. with the planning and they did a great job. Phil E. was so busy parking cars he did not get to bring any cars of his own, but the Zust was there and so was one of the Cohen cars. A Bentley from the Seattle was there and the owner was quite a card. In celebration of 100 years of GM, one car stood out like a sore thumb...an early 80's or late 70's Malibu(or some such thing as I am not up on my mid 80's chev's...does the 81 have 2 headlights or 4 headlights...like who knows?) won the prize for the most non descript vehicle I have seen at any car show. GM had some great cars on display but I sure missed the significant of this car. I have seen so many Monte Carlos are. well loved by the younger set and were a staple of office parking lots all over the nation...or the 84 Vette with it's dramatic departure from the norm...or the Beleaguered Fiero with all it's innovations...but a Malibu?...don't worry the rest of the show was so spectacular I forgot about the car completely until I saw my pics of the event. I started at 7 a.m. at the Steamworks Pub parking lot and then walked to the other end and then walked back and shot the cars I missed and reshot the cars that had better light on them There is no Order to the shots....none...pictures of cars all over the place...but the motorcycles are all at the end.. |
